What are the different types of cutting tools to be used on different jobs?
Electrician scissors with ergonomic handling are very useful tools for telecoms and electrical engineers for shearing soft cables or performing other daily tasks. Some of them have stripping notches which are very useful to cut small-diameter cables without switching tools. For live work, you should always use 1000V insulated electrician's scissors, EN 60900 compliant, for adequate protection.
In our cutting tools selection, you can also find various knives with different kind of blades. A lead knife has a particularly strong blade for cutting lead for example. An electrician knife is a specific hand tool for wire stripping: this pocket knife is used on a daily basis by electricians and telecom field engineers. Knives with a coping blade are perfect to open boxes and for stripping small wires and cables while a slitting blade is ideal for detail work or stripping larger cables.
Bucksaws, branch cutters, sickle knives and pruning saws are ideal cutting tools to prune power and telegraph poles, to clear telecom lines or for other types of forestry work.
Hand saws tend to have large, coarse teeth for fast, powerful cuts. Although hacksaws can be used to cut a wide range of materials, they are especially made for cutting metal and can cut details as well as pipes and tubes. They enable you to cut through metal, PVC, and other hard materials very quickly. Hacksaw blades generally have fine teeth for finer results.
To cleanly cut copper and aluminium cables without crushing them, you can use a cable cutter, a hand tool designed especially for this purpose.
Hand cutting tools require less maintenance than power equipment. However, in order to ensure your safety, we recommend to always use cut resistant safety gloves when handling cutting gloves.
